About Our School
The Temple City Unified School District is proud to share the news about the expansion of our early childhood education programs. We understand how important it is for working parents to choose a quality preschool. For this reason, the Temple City Early Learning Academy (TCELA) is committed to offering a structured program that will help your child develop and thrive in a nurturing environment. We thank you for partnering with us on your child’s early childhood education journey.
TCELA provides a developmentally appropriate, safe, and supportive learning environment where a diverse population of children can play, learn, and explore together. We believe that our students learn best when they are having fun. By learning through play, they will build on their social, cognitive, language, physical, and emotional development. We adopt the research supporting how high-quality preschool programs prepare students for future success. During early childhood development years, children can develop a love for learning when caring adults cultivate their social and cognitive abilities. Based on this research, TCELA delivers an early childhood education program that is safe, socially supportive, and cognitively engaging in a nurturing environment.
Dear Monarch Family,
Welcome to Temple City Early Learning Academy (TCELA)! My name is Mickie Wong and I am a proud alumna of Temple City Schools– Emperor Elementary, Oak Ave Intermediate, and Temple City High School. My passion for working with children led me to earn my B.S. in Child and Adolescent Development, specifically Early Childhood Education from California State University, Fullerton. I further obtained my M.A. in Education from Brandman University, where I studied Administration and Leadership in Early Childhood Education.
I have had the opportunity to work with children (from infants through high school) and Early Childhood Education– Professionals for over 10 years. My philosophy aims to foster children's developmental domains: physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional. I believe that with proper guidance, children will develop their own internal controls, a positive sense of self, and problem-solving skills. I am committed to crafting an educational experience that is engaging and fun for our children!
Thank you for choosing our program and welcome to our TCUSD family!

Staff are all incredible and we appreciate the positive, fun-filled atmosphere everyday.
It lends confidence that our kiddo is as taken care of as can be.
Outside equipment and classroom sizes are also better than imagined.
We also like the frequent email updates on weekly happenings at both school and district.
Thank you, staff!
I like the approach to learning and monthly study.
Knowing exactly what my child is learning every month helps us to reinforce it at home.
TCELA has been a godsend to our family. At P's previous special education preschool, we did not see any improvement with his speech or motor skills. He fought us every morning taking him, and cried every day during drop off. At TCELA, it is the complete opposite. He will actually grab his backpack and wait by the door, so excited to get to school! His teacher, aides, therapists, and the whole staff has been extremely communicative to us on his accomplishments and struggles.
We are extremely blessed to see P flourish attending TCELA!
M is very introverted, she is not good at talking to strangers because she has had some experiences that scared her, and I have felt the change in her since she started school. She has become happy and lively. As long as I can see the photos of her playing happily at school every day, I am very touched, thank you, I hope to see her happy every day!
